The famous Restoran Lek Lek, previously known as Ah Lit or Ah Lek, started out in a shack well hidden in the kampung of Serdang. Now, they have expanded and relocated to a proper double storey restaurant in Pusat Perdagangan SK. Be prepared to feast your eyes on our astonishing list of foods that we had, with portions enough to feed 14 hungry over-sized men.

The famous tofu kang soup (RM 60), the consistency of the soup resembles shark's fin soup that has an orange tinge with bits of egg white mixed in. The soup was thick but not overly starchy and gooey. It contains diced taufu, prawn meat, sliced crab meat and fish maw. It was pretty good!

Sweet and sour pork in yam basket (RM 25), a make-over from the traditional sweet and sour pork. Instead of pork cubes, you'll get thin crispy pork slices coated with tangy sweet and sour sauce. It was probably too thin and couldn't really taste the pork, it felt a bit like eating deep fried flour. However, the yam basket was absolutely yummylicious! It was crispy outside with powdery smooth yam inside, definitely a good quality yam for that day.

Fa Guat Loong (RM 28) is basically a stuffed boneless ma yau fish. Almost like an art, the fish flesh is firstly removed with the skin intact, made into fish paste, stuffed and reconstructed back into the fish, deep fried and finally served with soy sauce with spring onions as garnish. The fish paste was firm, springy and perfectly seasoned. It was indeed tasty and different, especially with the fish skin intact.

Lo-Hon mixed vegetables (RM 25), fresh green broccoli with braised mushrooms, bean curd bun and vegetarian abalone slices.

Stir fried kuai fei miew (RM 20), it was thick and juicy sweet with a crunchy texture like Ipoh bean sprouts.

Thai style deep fried pork knuckles (RM 38) served with a special piquant sweet sauce. A huge chuck of delicious pork, crispy on the outside and tender juicy within. It was sinfully perfect, definitely can rival the German counterparts.

Steamed frog legs with ginger paste (RM 38.50), the delicate fresh meat was sweet and firm. The ginger paste was strong, smooth and it was gingerly spicy syok!

Teow Chew style steamed Talapia fish (RM 35), the fish was fresh and fragrantly immersed with the sourish sweet sauce.

Deep fried salted egg yolk squid (RM 20), crispy on the outside while retaining the sweet and springy squid inside. The salted egg yolk was evenly coated with some spiciness from the chili padi and the aroma from the curry leaves.

Steamed kampung chicken (RM 80), it was really huge, no wonder it was expensive. Nevertheless, it turned out to be tender, less fats and 'chickenly' tasty. Best served with some chili padi in soy sauce and chili ginger paste sauce.

Petai fried rice (RM 20), it was extremely tasty and full of "wok hei". It was really good even for someone that doesn't like the acquired taste of petai which adds a unique taste into the fried rice.

Verdict: Definitely worth eating out here again and again! Excellent Chinese food at a reasonable price.

Nicely tucked right in the middle of Cheras Business Centre, LK Soup House is famous for its Chinese herbal soups. Range from cheap to expensive, you can get all the different varieties according to your budget. Based on ancient Chinese recipes, the power behind herbal soups are their ability to use the herbs in synergy with each other to achieve the most affective healing possible. What can be healthier than a bowl of nutritional Chinese herbal soup to rejuvenate and nourish our bodies.

Variety of soups with multiple traditional herbal ingredients which caters for various health benefits.

Three Sea Treasures (RM 6), double-boiled sea-horse sea-dragon with lean pork which improves sensitive skins and loosen phlegm. In all honesty, I never liked black looking herbal soups, however, this is exceptional - it wasn't bitter at all! Surprisingly, it was actually quite tasty, a sea-ish experience with the sweetness from the pork.

Rome Sugarcane (RM 6), double-boiled sugarcane carrot with lean pork which is known for its cooling properties and soothes sore throat. It was clear and naturally sweet.

American Ginseng with Qi Zi (RM 12), double-boiled American ginseng with wolf-berries and chicken. Revitalizes your energy and improves appetite and memory. It tasted really good, it wasn't overly bitter and it was just nice - earthy, bitter with sweet undertones.

Bean curd LK style (RM 6), deep fried bean curd with pickled radish, diced mushroom, carrot and topped with scallions. With a delicate touch of sweetness from the sauce to balance the salty pickled radish.

Deep fried fresh Tilapia with Thai sauce (RM 13.80), it was perfectly fried and served with sweet and sour Thai chili sauce.

Steamed sliced Kurau with sliced ginger (RM 20). This dish gave me a homely feeling, mom cooks sliced Kurau fish quite often and didn't know it was that pricey. However, the flesh was fresh, firm and thick.

Fu Yong omelette (RM 7) with fresh shrimps, sliced onions and chillies. I always thought that Fu Yong omelette originates from Seremban, guess I was wrong. Fu Yong omelette is derived from Fu Yong egg slices, an authentic Chinese recipe from Shanghai. This dish is prepared with beaten eggs and minced ham. From these dishes, creative Chinese chefs in the United States at least as early as the 1930s created a pancake filled with eggs, vegetables, and meat or seafood.

Stir fried spinach with garlic (RM 6).

Braised sliced pork belly with salted fish in casserole (RM 15). The aroma of the salted fish, sweet dark soy sauce and spicy dried chillies infused together with the fatty part of the pork belly meat, you can never go wrong with this dish.

Verdict: Home cook meals with delicious yet nutritious herbal soups at an affordable price.

Restoran Yan Yan is located at Old Klang Road, right opposite the junction towards Taman Desa. Traditionally, dim sum is only for breakfast but in Yan Yan, you can have your dim sum for breakfast, lunch, tea-time, dinner or even late-night supper. They serve dim sum for 24 hours a day for a reasonably price of RM 2.90 per plate!

Siew mai (RM 2.90), decent but not outstanding, but can't expect much from this price lah.

Royal har gow (RM 2.90), different from the normal har gow that wraps the prawn fillings in a pouch shape, this royal har gow is kinda out-of-shaped.

Fried radish cake (RM 2.90), this is like the best catch of the day! One full plate of fried radish cake for only RM 2.90, definitely wouldn't mind coming back just to exploit this only.

Century egg with lean meat and peanut congee (RM 2.90), big bowl of congee for only RM 2.90. Totally worth it but it was a little too thick and starchy for my liking.

Prawn chee cheong fun (RM 2.90), this was rather disappointing though. It tasted like as if they re-steamed it directly from the plate itself, the roll was sticking to the plate and the soy sauce was watery diluted.

Verdict: Don't expect excellent dim sum here, most importantly, the prices are not expensive and certain items are really worth having, e.g. fried radish cake for only RM 2.90 :P
