Restaurant Harbour Steamboat is located in Sri Petaling, same row with the New Restaurant Ipoh Chicken Rice. I walked past this row of shops around 9pm during one of the weekdays and noticed how packed this place was from the outside. Feeling curious and how can I missed out such popular place!? So, I have made a point to return.


Don't attempt to walk in without a prior reservation or you might end up waiting outside for hours. Even during the weekdays, these waiting chairs are filled with customers waiting to be seated.

The restaurant is fully air-conditioned and messy graffiti walls filled with all kinds of marker messages and drawings one could think of.


Like any other Hong Kong steamboat, you'll have a variety of sauces. In here, you have the dried shrimp chili paste, fermented bean curd sauce, chili sauce and cilantro.


And you are supposed to concoct your own sauces, depending on how spicy, sour, salty you like it to be.

The concocted special sauce were actually pretty good!


One of the selling point of this restaurant is probably the variety of soup-based offered. Ranging from Macau pork soup (RM 20), herbal soup (RM 15), century egg soup (RM 10), sugar cane soup (RM 10), Teow Chew soup (RM 12), papaya fungus soup (RM 10), white pepper soup (RM 15), tom yam soup (RM 12) and clay pot lamb (RM 30). We had the Macau pork soup and papaya fungus soup within a pot for RM 30 in total.


There isn't any per head set menus and everything is ala-carte from all the balls to vegetables. We had some prawn wantan (RM 10), dumpling (RM 12), mushroom pork ball (RM 8), garoupa fish slice (RM 10), Tong-Hou vegetables (RM 5) and Japanese udon noodles (RM 5).


Never failed to have fish maw (RM 12) for steamboat.


And of course, lamb slice (RM 15) and pork slice (RM 10), without doubt fresh and tender.


Dipping a slice of meat into the hot boiling broth, and swish it back and forth. The worst thing that can happen is to ruin a potentially good thing by overcooking it.


Don't mind paying extra for the soup but the downside was, they are all going to taste almost the same since the subsequent refills are all from the same clear soup-based that dilutes it further.

Verdict: Special concocted sauce, freshness of the ingredients and the wide variety of soup-based definitely warm the hearts of their ever-packed line of customers. Expensive though!

The famous Tim Kee Chicken Rice at Taman Connaught, Cheras, is now open in Sri Petaling. Rated as one of the Top 10 Best Chicken Rice Award and sells close to 200 chickens daily.


Tim Kee is well known for their Bukit Mertajam and Kampung steamed white chickens. Aside from that, you'll have other choices like the roast chicken, honey BBQ sesame chicken, char siew (bbq pork) and siew yoke (roast pork belly).


The oil rice was fragrant and fluffy yummy. To many, the chili and ginger sauces are just as important as the chicken rice itself. It certainly did not disappoint, especially the ginger sauce, it was thick with an extremely smooth texture.


Steamed white chicken from Bukit Mertajam (RM 4), it was surprisingly tasty and lean. I thought it was Kampung chicken at first, it was filled with chicken taste even though it wasn't as tender and juicy (oily) as the normal white chicken. The texture was just nice, not overly tough either.


Honey BBQ sesame chicken (RM 7.50), a whole boneless chicken leg glazed with sweet honey sauce and barbecued till perfection. It was succulent, juicy and sweet.


Siew yoke (roast pork belly) (RM 4), the crispy crunchy skin crackles as you take the first bite only to reveal the mouthwatering fat that sits right below. It was good and the portions were generous.

Roast chicken with char siew (bbq pork) (RM 4), it wasn't fantastic at all. The char siew was normal, no where near compared to any of the top char siew sellers around. The roast chicken was boring and the skin wasn't crispy. I think I'll just settle for their steamed white chicken instead.


Kampung chicken breast (RM 5), just like any young people, I never really like Kampung chicken before, tough to chew, hard and dry. However, I was pleasantly surprised with Tim Kee's Kampung chicken, it turned out to be decently tender and chickenly tasty. I begin to like Kampung chicken more and more each day, could this be the sign of aging?


Bean sprout from Ipoh (RM 4), typical fat juicy and crunchy bean sprout from Ipoh.

Verdict: Decently good and taste for their white steamed chicken. Serving was fast and the price was reasonable too.

Never really liked yogurt, but frozen yogurt is different! It's like smooth ice cream without the richness of ice cream, fat free, cholesterol free, low in GI, no artificial colors or sweeteners and full of beneficial probiotics. So hard to believe that this is actually good for you!

I had my first frozen yogurt from YOGUR Plus in Tropicana City Mall for a whooping price of RM 5 in a small cup, but still considerably cheaper than Yogurberry and Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt. Nevertheless, it was nice, refreshing and sourly addictive. Unfortunately, YOGUR Plus came to an end probably due to lack of patronage. Till then, I have not had my frozen yogurt fix until I met Yogurt Boyz. Yogurt Boyz is located in Sri Petaling, same row with Alison and all the dim sum restaurants.


I was shocked initially to see these...only "RM 1.80 RM 2 in a cone", "RM 2.50 RM 3 in a cup"! Additional toppings ranging from freshly cut fruits (strawberries, raspberries, kiwis, dragon fruits, grapes, mango, honey dews, watermelons), nata de coco, Oreo bits, corn flakes, M&Ms, marshmallows, Coco crunch, etc. for only RM 0.70 RM 0.80 each. Plus, free of charge Hershey syrups (chocolate or strawberry) and unlimited self-service chocolate sprinkles. Go easy on the indulgence okay? Frozen yogurt supposed to be healthy and you don't want to make it calorific :P


For few cents more, you can pick flavored yogurt which varies from kiwi to strawberry, raspberry, mango and many more.


Original frozen yogurt with two toppings (freshly cut strawberries and Oreo bits) drizzled with Hershey's strawberry syrup (RM 3.90 RM 5.10) is the perfect match made. Cold zingy tang which is creamy smooth and icily refreshing!


Kiwi frozen yogurt with two toppings (freshly cut kiwis and strawberries) drizzled with Hershey's strawberry syrup (RM 4.20 RM 5.60).


Whenever I passed by Sri Petaling, die die also I must tapau a single cone frozen yogurt (RM 1.80 RM 2) on the go.

Surprisingly, how can this place be empty?!?! Something must be wrong here. Probably due to the location? Lack of proper deco? With the right pricing, I don't see what is stopping them from competing against the big boys that sell 2-3 times more expensive.

Verdict: Totally worth it! Excellent place for cheap and good frozen yogurt if only you care less about the environment.

Last visit (Oct 24, 2010): The environment gotten worse, you wouldn't feel comfortable sitting in here for more than 5 minutes. Most sad, the price went up and they've cut down on the yogurt mixing. It wasn't as sourish rich as before.
