We were surprised and curious at the same time when we were told that this particular popiah stall is one of the must-have food whenever you're at the historical city of Malacca.

This most-sought after popiah stall is located at Jalan Bunga Raya, just right in front of Madam's King Departmental Store. It's best to drive and park by the road side instead of walking all the way there from Jonker Street under the hot sun - it's possible and we did it!.

Well, what makes this popiah special and different from the rest? It's pork lard! We couldn't resist not trying it despite knowing that too much pork lard might just give us heart attack.

There is a numbering queue system in place and we had to wait about 20 minutes for our popiah. No doubt this popiah stall is evidently popular with the tourists and locals as we observed the long queues braving the hot humid Melaka weather.

Each popiah costs RM 3 for small and RM 3.50 for big. For RM 0.50 more, we super-sized it and went for the big ones. It was big and definitely worth paying for!

Each popiah is filled with generous combination of eggs, bean sprouts, turnips, bean curds, peanuts, pork lards and dressed with sweet and chili sauce. The crispy and fragrant pork lard used definitely played a big role in making this popiah special. However, it was a little too sweet for us.
Verdict: Overall, it tasted okay except for the cloying sweetness. But it's worth the price and waiting for if you haven't try it. The next time we're there, we'll probably try to ask for a less sweet version.
