For the beef lovers, you can now eat till pengsan at Daidomon. Daidomon specializes in yakiniku (grilled meat) buffet and located on the 3rd floor of Great Eastern Mall, Jalan Ampang.

Daidomon is one of those buffet places where you can order all the dishes without moving your butt. Ranging from RM 40+ to RM 60+ per person, depending on which day and time, it was actually quite reasonable for the amount of beef and sashimi that I've had. While for the RM 88++, you'll get unlimited order of wagyu beef, scallop, oyster and freshly cooked ebi tempura!

Daidomon originally started as a family business in Singapore since 1982 and then brought over to Malaysia by Mr Stanley Yeoh, the owner and Managing Director.

Today, Daidomon has established itself as one of the biggest Japanese BBQ restaurant in KL, occupying a floor space of 7200sf with 7 inter-connected VIP rooms for private functions, it can easily accommodate up to 300 pax at any one time.

Like any other buffet, there are a line up of ready-to-eat dishes available ranging from sushi rolls, salad bar, fried chicken, snail meat, edamame, kimchi, fried rice?!, fried beehoon?!, sausages?!, cold tempura, miso soup, and a few more. It wasn't that attractive and limited in choice.

Daidomon's buffet menu with different choices of beef, seafood, sashimi, vegetables and other meats.

Karubi (beef belly tender), it was all juicy and tender! And you might want to fry some raw garlics and onions over the grill before putting on the meat, it'll add an extra sweetness and aroma to the grilled food.

Rosu (striploin), it was equally nice!

Honetsuki (bone in short rib), all the different types of beef cuts were actually pretty good with slight marbling that makes it all juicy after grilling. The others that worth mentioning were the ox tongue and harami (tender meat around the diaphragm).

Dachou (boneless ostrich meat), felt like it just came of the freezer and it was quite tough. Probably not much demands for such meat and it was kept in freezer to maintain the freshness. And don't ever bother ordering mino (mountain chain ox triple?), I have no idea what it was, but it was definitely tougher than rubber!

The way you like it - rare, medium rare, medium well or well done. Each table is fitted with a charcoaled fired pit with an exhaust fan beneath to suck up the smokes and smells to keep you from smelling like a walking beef after eating.

The grilled meat went well with the special sweet and tangy sauce known as Yakiniku, made from 18 different ingredients.

For the more adventurous eaters, you might want to take up the raw beef challenge. Daidomon serves several types of raw beef, gyu sashi (thinly sliced raw beef), yukke sashi (marinated beef with egg yolk) and gyu tataki (marinated lightly grilled beef). The marinated raw beef with egg yolk definitely tasted better than it looks, it was nicely seasoned with sauces, sesame oil and the raw egg yolk to give it a smooth velvety taste. You can't hardly taste the rawness of the beef anymore.

Freshly made nigiri sushi's were available too but I skipped these to save tummy space for the more beef and sashimi.

Decently thick cuts of fresh sashimi. Not the best sake salmon sashimi I've had but definitely comparable to many premium buffet out there.

The incredibly addictive shime saba (vinegared mackerel), a delectably salty fish that combined nicely with the sweet tangy vinegar.

Shiro maguro (butter fish) has a slight buttery and tender texture. Either eating it raw or grilled, they'll still taste great.

Assortment of salmon, cod and butter fish ready to jump onto the BBQ grill. The cod had a yucky weird texture, I don't think it was fresh. Some of it had bones in it, it was a completely different cut compared to the sashimi. Should have ordered the sashimi version for grilling, I'm sure it'll taste equally nice!

Grilled butter fish, very delicate and rich flesh that the word "tender" cannot even come close to describing this wonderful fish.

Big fat juicy precious scallops, only one per person.

I remembered having my oyster raw during my first visit, but this time, they just poured them into an aluminium cup and boiled with butter on top of the grill. The outcome was weird, maybe next time they'll surprise me with an egg for me to make an oyster omelet.

As much as they made the scallops and oysters so special by limiting to one per person, it didn't taste as good as anticipated.

If you ever get tired of the normal grilled meats then try grilling some vegetables. Grilled shiitake mushroom was delicious!

Next in the grill-able vegetables list - corns, green peppers, onions, pumpkins, leeks and sweet potatoes.

The macha (green tea) ice cream was the sweet ending to the heavy meal. It was bitter sweet, slightly creamy and unlimited from the ice cream counter, with other available flavors such as peach, strawberry and yam.

It was my second visit to Daidomon and in both occasions, I find myself rushing to the toilet after leaving the restaurant. It was pretty messy! Not sure why, but I'm guessing it could be the marinated raw beef with egg yolk. Why don't you try it and let me know the outcome?

Parking isn't a problem at all, it is cheap to park inside Great Eastern Mall and you can check the parking rates here.

Verdict: If you want varieties in a buffet, Daidomon wouldn't be the choice. But if you're a beef lover, you'll probably like this place. Even though I had major diarrhea twice from eating here, I'll likely to pay them another visit just for unlimited wagyu beef and sashimi. No more raw beef for me next time!

This is the worst place ever that i'hv been to.
lousy service, ask us to take the chopsticks and plates ourselves, food at the selfservice was never refilled, turned off the gas when we are still eating, keep asking us to pay and asking us to leave even we are still eating, the staffs cleaned the table in shorts and T-shirts.
    WORST PLACE EVER
